Saint Philip’s College established Cyber Colosseum with Natuv Inc. and Red Knight to bridge the gap between academic theory and workforce demands. The environment gives students hands-on experience in cybersecurity, network management, and incident response.
Infrastructure & capabilities
Cyber Colosseum is physically and logically isolated from the main district network, creating a safe sandbox for malware detonation, testing, and realistic operational exercises.
- Hardware: 13 server racks, 5 clusters, and more than 40 Cisco networking devices.
- Management & monitoring: Grafana, Libra MMS, Confluence, Jira, and NetBox.
- Automation & orchestration: Ansible, GitLab, GitOps, Kubernetes, and Argo CD.
- Security stack: Cisco Secure Endpoint, Cisco XDR, and Security Onion.
Pedagogical approach
- Practical learning: High-performance RTX 4090 workstations support password cracking and Capture the Flag challenges.
- Red vs. Blue exercises: Students work in compromised environments to find and remediate backdoors and unauthorized access, including professional-grade events such as the US Cyber Games.
- Accessible from anywhere: Cloud Connect provides remote access to virtual machines, including Kali Linux, for coursework beyond the physical facility.
